Botallack Head. Cornwall.
21st October 2007
I returned to Botallack Head because I felt there was a potential in the location that I had not fulfilled on my earlier visit.
I was in the area on a Bushcraft course and I was determined to make the best of my time photographically before the long journey home.
My visit to Land’s End had left me in poor temper and sitting on an outcrop, watching the sea rising and falling over the shore below was probably the best therapy I could have had.
The long exposure here has turned the shifting foam and spume into a sinuous line that accentuated the surf on the rocks.
I was hoping for a warm glow of light as the sun sank to the horizon but on this day the light just faded into twilight.
I think this is closer to my vision of the scene but I’m a long way from finished with this spot yet.
Post script. October 2008.
This picture was one of the entries shortlisted for Take a View, The Landscape Photographer of the Year 2008. One of my other entries was fortunate enough to win 2nd place in the Classic View class.
