In previous years when I have been working in this area I have been fortunate with the weather in the early mornings.

This time I thought I was going to be out of luck as day after day gave flat, lifeless conditions often accompanied by rain.

This was the last morning of my stay this year and finally the cloud broke and the sun made it through.

I had just enough time to shoot a few frames off between breakfast and work. This shot as the sun broke over the horizon was the pick of the bunch.

Although it’s certainly not my favourite shot of this location. I hoped it was a good omen for my trip northwards to Northumbria.
