The Aurora Borealis is one of the Solar Systems natural wonders caused by solar activity and is something that you can never really plan for, you just have to be open to the opportunity when it presents itself.
For me that meant camping out as I like to do but this time I could use the snow to build a shelter.
I was really fortunate that the sun was rumbling through a relatively active phase on it’s way to the solar maximum.
What was less fortunate was the fact that my main camera had malfunctioned just a few days before my flight leaving me with a much older camera, kindly lent to me by a good friend, to capture these images.
Although the camera performed well there is a bit more noise that I would have liked but life is what happens when you are making other plans.
